How to Arrive
The general and logical method of getting to Lonavala is by road, and reaching Purohit Holiday Resort is not an uphill task for drivers. The city lies directly on the old Mumbai-Pune Highway while it is just some minutes off the main expressway of Mumbai to Pune. Therefore, this place becomes a very easy destination from both these big cities—a drive of just about 2-3 hours typically. An added advantage that comes with this resort is the provision of free onsite parking; something very monumental within walking distance in a town center characterized by much congestion.
Travelers using public transport find coming in by train to be a great and very popular choice. Lonavala has its own rail stop where many fast and local trains often go between Mumbai and Pune stop here. The place is just a five-minute walk from the Lonavala rail station making it very easy for those coming by rail, allowing a fully car-free holiday if wanted.
The nearest airport to Lonavala is at Pune International Airport (PNQ), which lies approximately 70 kilometers away, and the other at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (BOM) at a distance of about 95 kilometers. From either of the airports, one can usually hire private taxis for a journey taking two to three hours or take a taxi up to the nearest big train station (Pune or Dadar) and then proceed further by train up to Lonavala.
